Backlinks are important, as they are the life and blood of every blog or website, but of-course next only to the one who actually click your ads and buys the stuff on your site – your human visitors. And if you really want your site or blog to be seen and getting index by major search engines more specifically on Google, including the massive free traffic, then you had to build backlinks, not just backlinks but quality backlinks.
And even though you’d written a lot of good and original stuff on your site but no one’s linking or doesn’t have any incoming links that pointed on your page/site, then it’s useless, as nobody can find your site and postings on search engines top pages, but instead it will buried deep down on SERPs. However, the case is different if you’re buying ads on big G’s Adwords.
What is a Backlink?
A backlink is a link or an incoming link that pointed to your site or blog from the other site, also known as inbound links. You can also find more definitions of backlinks at wiki. However, if you’re already practicing or knows about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) stuff, then you probably knows what a back-link is and it also means, that this write-up is not meant for you. =)
So, why Backlinks are that important?
Backlinks are important if you want your blog or website to appear on top of every search engines result pages (SERPs) most specifically on Google’ search query, where highly searched term (fully optimized keyword) means money, literally. You can not just build your site or blog and let visitors find it without showing them the way. To make it short, if you really want massive free traffic on your website thru search engines – also known as organic, then you must build quality backlinks.
Backlinks are also responsible of your PR. And by the way, don’t be confused about PR / Page Rank.
PR or Page Rank - is a number assigned by Google which represents to the importance of your page or site, which can vary from 0 to 10. The more website/pages pointing towards your site the higher your PR will be, especially if those websites had a higher PR than yours.
Whereas, PR (page rank) determines the positioning of your pages that listed or getting indexed on Google’s search engines result pages(SERPs).
And the more links pointing towards your page/site with your anchored keywords (keyword/s that you want to be ranked), the more authority(influential) your page or site is, in the eyes(bots) of every search engine more especially if you optimized your keyword for big G. However, be aware that when creating your back-links, make sure to do it naturally and not aggressively(or spammy), to stay away from being penalized by big G, especially if your site is just new.
The Types of Links:
1. One-Way Links – the type of links the pointed on your site. Be noted that even if you get this type of link, but from the site that is not relevant on your niche, then the impact is not that big.
2. Two Way Links – the type of links that mostly visible on bloggers sidebar (sometimes on menu bar), also known as reciprocal links or if somebody want to exchange links(two-way).
3. Three Way Links – forget this one(this link doesn’t need to include here), and just concentrate on the first – the One-Way Links.
